Five Ways to Create a Suite Master

Posted on Monday, 28 January 2013

The master bedroom is a sanctuary and retreat at the end of the day. A few tips can help define the space into a true retreat:

  • Color – choose a wall paint color that is soothing to your senses. Whether it’s a neutral palette or cool shades of blue, you’ll want a color that enhances relaxation.
  • Fabrics – choose complimentary fabrics in various textures, shades and patterns to fill the bed with inviting pillows in various sizes, wool blankets and cozy throws. A throw pillow can add a pop of color and offer inspiration for the window coverings.
  • Storage – make sure you have enough storage in the room for extra blankets and pillows with either an ottoman that doubles as storage, a wicker trunk or a repurposed vintage trunk.
  • Accessories – an assortment of scented candles, family photos and keepsakes from your favorite vacations on display keep the space personal.
  • Lighting – an assortment of reading lamps on the night stands in addition to a dimmer for the overhead lighting are great ways to create a relaxing space.

New Westside Library Set for Summer Opening

Posted on Tuesday, 22 January 2013

Early summer is set for the opening of a new, Westside Library in Pearland located in the H-E-B shopping center at Business Center and Memorial Hermann Drives. Pearland City Council awarded a $375,000 construction contract for the library in December. Construction will be complete by April with an anticipated early June opening date.

The new library home will occupy a 6,000 square foot space. Library officials are interviewing candidates and assembling the library staff comprised of four full-time employees and three part-time.

“We have seen a high level of interest and excitement in the community,” said Brazoria County assistant library director Lisa Loranc.

The push for a new library was a grassroots effort initiated more than two years ago with the emergence of a group – Friends of Pearland Westside Library along with other interested individuals. The Friends have already held various fundraisers within the community. Residents interested in supporting the group’s effort, can visit http://pearlandwestsidelibraryfriends.org/.
