Firefighting has been around since the ancient Egypt, however it was the Romans who revolutionized fighting fire into an organized profession. Today fire and rescue operations is one of our societies truly heroic professions. Join the Pearland Firefighters in celebrating 65 years of serving the community.
The Pearland Fire Department has faithfully served the community since 1946. In January 1944, fire destroyed Pearland Elementary School. Residents were determined not to let thi
s happen again, and so, in 1946 Pearland’s Volunteer Fire Department was formed. By February 1947, there were 20 members. By 1956 the Fire department was in great need. They were under staffed and ill equipped to adequately protect the City of Pearland. Local businesses and individuals stepped in to aid the department in their time of need, beginning the annual fundraiser.
The annual fundraiser is in full swing. Their suggested donation for businesses is $50 and $20 for individuals. To make a donation or learn more visit their homepage.
