Six students from Manvel High School participated in the Young Creative Writing Project as part of an Internet based awareness campaign. Students from were challenged to write at least 50,000 words in 30 days.
Completing their goal the students had approximately 133 pages of text. The competition began over a decade ago and has produced several published, successful author’s including The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern who was chosen as one of The New York Times Best Sellers. “The competition is a great opportunity for our students to see that they can accomplish writing a novel,” said Barbara Wells, Manvel High School English teacher.
Participating students included Marc Dandoy, Heather Pan, Ben Glasgow, Peter Anderson, Shyla Escobedo, Briana Banaglorioso, Manuel Gonzales, Luke Orlando, Regina Sasuman, Kathleen Paid, Anthony Moorehead and Daniel Devarajan."
